Mission

Founded in 2001 and registered as a charity in 2010 (IR File No. 91/10626), Foodlink Foundation is a leader in the fight against hunger and poverty in the city of Hong Kong. We are in mission to mitigate hunger, build self-sufficiency, and foster nutritional wellness while reducing food wastage in hotels and restaurants in Hong Kong.

Vision 

Foodlink Foundation's vision is to ensure that every needy person in Hong Kong has access to a healthy meal.

History

Conceived at the end of December of 2001 after studies supported the need for and the feasibility of such a project, Foodlink began a pilot scheme in early 2002 to ensure that groups of needy people had access to a healthy meal. Without government funding, Foodlink worked to alleviate hunger in the city. Food producers were linked to welfare agencies and the donor-recipient partnership was born.

Presently, our role remains unchanged -- we act as a bridge that connects the supply to the demand and have a food-recycling system in place that collects safe-to-eat surplus food from various food and beverage outlets and delivers to those who are in need.

In fact, Foodlink Foundation Limited has seen considerable growth since it began collecting food in 2001. Since then, we have expanded to collaborate with more hotels, and the general public has become increasingly supportive of Foodlink's mission to mitigate hunger and reduce food waste via our daily food recycling program.

Upon gaining recognition and receiving warm and encouraging feedback about Foodlink's work in the community, the committee members of Foodlink have unanimously decided to give Foodlink's logo, name and slogan a makeover.  We now have a modern, professional and lively logo, as well as a suitable Chinese name that can help Foodlink reach its maximum potential.

"Replacing Hunger With A Smile" is our revamped slogan. We hope that it will catch on easily and entice new sponsors to learn more about Foodlink and its initiatives. In addition, the colour orange is now being used to represent Foodlink. Like the vibrant hue, Foodlink stands out, is warm and passionate, and also modern and fun - like many of our young and open-minded volunteers who hope to bring positive change within our society. Wisegiving

WiseGiving is an initiative of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service launched in late 2007. It aims to enhance charity accountability and transparency in Hong Kong. The website www.WiseGiving.org.hk is an effective platform for donors to learn about charity information such as governance and finances. Foodlink Foundation is a registered Wisegiving Charity.
